“Do I have to exercise?”
“Only exercise if you want to feel
better quicker and prevent pain,“ your Sitka
chiropractic replies.
“How much time do I have to spend exercising each day?”
“Not long, just effectively,” Arctic Chiropractic, Sitka
advises.
Exercise is not every Sitka back pain or neck
pain patient’s ‘cup of tea’. Arctic Chiropractic, Sitka knows.
Exercise is also so important to our back and neck pain
patient’s recovery and future prevention of the pain. We are with our Sitka
chiropractic patients every step of the way to make
the most of the exercise effort so that it results in pain relief and prevention.
OPTIMAL NECK PAIN EXERCISE GUIDES
Neck pain sufferers understand how pain
may decrease their ability to look around
comfortably. Such neck pain patients were tested for
their cervical range of motion and pain intensity with a flexion-rotation test.
They were then instructed to do a 20-minutes cervical spine
exercise session. Half of them were then additionally
treated with manual therapy applied to the C0-C1 and C2-C3 cervical spine
levels. Those who performed the exercise program and were treated did significantly
better in terms of range of motion, pain intensity reduction,
and the flexion-rotation test. (1) Another research project found
that the optimal stretching time of cervical muscles in patients with chronic
myofascial pain syndrome was 30 seconds as opposed to 15
or 60 seconds or no stretching. This permitted the best
benefit to pain intensity reduction while minimizing
any adverse effects on neural function of the affected
nerve roots and central nervous system. (2) Arctic Chiropractic, Sitka always emphasizes
that the appropriate exercise performed in the right
way does not have to take long to be effective!
Additionally, exercise places some control in the
hands of its sufferer since exercise can be performed anytime.
OPTIMAL LOW BACK PAIN EXERCISE GUIDES
Incorporating exercise training into the
multidisciplinary treatment of non-specific chronic low back pain does make
sense. This type of back pain impacts so many
people worldwide and is a leading
cause of disability. Proper exercise training transitions the back
pain sufferer to self-management. Recently, researchers posed
that pain intensity and disability - and even mental health struggles
in these back pain patients - were improved with options
like resistance and aerobic exercise while Pilates, resistance exercise, yoga,
and stabilization exercise. (3) Arctic Chiropractic, Sitka agrees! Exercise is valuable
on so many fronts.
