Chondroitin Sulfate Helps Sitka Osteoporosis

The “osteo” conditions get a lot of attention at Arctic Chiropractic, Sitka and in the research labs. “Chondroitin sulfate” receives much attention for the positive effect it has on osteoarthritis, so researchers are turning attention to its use with the other “osteo”: osteoporosis. Chondroitin sulfate is a non-drug intervention that is showing benefit for managing and improving osteoporosis which we know our Sitka chiropractic patients with osteoporosis will welcome. Gentle chiropractic care of osteoporosis can be relieving.

OSTEOPOROSIS

Osteoporosis is an age-related condition that concerns millions of people and a skeleton-weakening condition caused by calcium deficiency many times resulting in painful bone fractures and reduced mobility. Postmenopausal osteoporosis is the most usual kind of osteoporosis. A way to attack osteoporosis is by balancing calcium levels in the body; however, it can be difficult to do alone. Fortunately, chondroitin sulfate has emerged as a natural companion in this effort to help osteoporosis caused by calcium deficiency.

CHONDROITIN SULFATE FOR OSTEOPOROSIS – A good addition.

Chondroitin sulfate’s ability to regulate lipid metabolism by breaking lipids down into smaller particles can allow its cellular absorption more easily. This process permits cells to use the lipids more efficiently, leading to stronger bones and muscles. Chondroitin sulfate also helps reduce inflammation and pain related to osteoporosis which may help manage the effects of calcium deficiency-related osteoporosis. In a newer rat study, researchers tested chondroitin sulfate for osteoporosis and weighed its effectiveness against a calcium supplement, too. Chondroitin sulfate and chondroitin sulfate oligosaccharide more effectively repaired femur calcium, bone fracture deflection, and serum indices and enhanced cortical bone density, mechanical strength, and mineral content of bone. Their deductions expressed excitement for the potential in delaying the progression of postmenopausal osteoporosis with daily use. (1) This is beneficial news for Sitka osteoporosis patients to insert into their calcium supplementation schedule.

CALCIUM FOR OSTEOPOROSIS – What about a combo?

Osteoporosis sufferers are advised to take calcium all the time. Many of us are calcium deficient. Both being non-drug interventions, calcium and chondroitin sulfate may enhance each other’s effects. Chondroitin sulfate, a natural compound existing in the human body, has been shown to be an effective solution for controlling osteoporosis caused by a deficinency of calcium. Another study stated that the combined action of chondroitin sulfate and calcium alleviated osteoporosis via gut microbiota and metabolomics in low calcium rats. Chondroitin sulfate slowed down the inflammatory response, lowered short chain fatty acid synthesis in intestinal flora, halted osteoclast differentiation, elevated the absorption of calcium and antioxidant mechanism, and improved osteoporosis. (2) Now that is an effective osteoporosis nutrition combo!
